Congratulations, you are taking a courageous step to consider therapy! Let’s face it, life and change can be painful. There are seasons when we find ourselves in situations or relationships that are difficult to navigate. These times of crisis hold great opportunities for personal growth and renewal. You will find that I am accepting, empathetic, sometimes direct, but always very supportive. I create a place for you to explore and process your inner thoughts and feelings so that growth and renewal can begin. I can’t change things for you; however I can journey with you as you begin to open, rediscover, and change yourself.
My passion is for you to experience the support and empowerment you need to produce lasting changes as a result of our time together. I work with men and women, college age and beyond. I look forward to meeting and getting to know you.
My practice is in the Mukilteo area of Washington, USA.
My name is Shellee and I am passionate about helping people experience healing and wholeness in their lives. I care deeply, listen empathetically, and provide a safe and secure environment for my clients.
I am also a wife, mom, daughter, and sister. I have been married for over 28 years and have 4 young adult daughters. I hold a BA in Psychology from the University of Washington and am a certified K-12 teacher. After raising my family, I chose to follow my heart and pursue my career as a therapist by returning to school in 2010 and receiving my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington.
My activities outside of counseling include traveling, camping, fishing, and hiking with my family. I look forward to walking daily. I eat gluten and wheat free food, cherish my time with friends, and enjoy learning about the various cultures of our world.
I am a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).
Theories and Methods
I believe factors such as family history, social networks, and spiritual elements interconnect to make us who we are today. For this reason my approach to therapy is balanced and holistic, taking into account the biological, psychological, social and spiritual aspects of each person. This is called the Bio-psycho-social/spiritual model of psychotherapy. Throughout our sessions I will seek to join you in a client-centered relationship.
In addition, I blend attachment theory, systems theory, as well as well as mindfulness into my therapy. I also use Lifespan Integration to help clients heal from past trauma.
Building a trusting relationship with my client is very important to me. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques such as Interpersonal Therapy (IP), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Lifespan Integration (LI) which I tailor to meet the needs of each client. If you have questions, please feel free to ask during our time together.
If you are a new client considering treatment, please print and fill out these three forms prior to your first appointment. This will help expedite the process and ensure that your time is well spent with me. Click on the boxes to download.
