Liz Maryon (CMHC) specializes in working with children of all ages and their caregivers to support secure attachment development and healing from trauma. Liz recognizes that providing caregiver support and psychoeducation is critical to the success and healing of the child. Liz utilizes a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach that recognizes that “symptoms” are generally survival skills that individuals develop to protect themselves in difficult situations. This non-pathologizing approach allows clients to make sense of their experiences through compassion and acceptance, and allows them to build more adaptive coping skills in the present. Liz has received training in Lifespan Integration which she has found to be highly effective in dramatically reducing her clients’ trauma responses, and supporting clients’ positive sense of self and ability to trust others, the foundations which make up a secure attachment. In addition to Lifespan Integration, Liz specializes in Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) to support positive parent-child relationships and reduce externalizing behaviors (aggression, opposition, tantrums, etc.) in children.
