“I believe people do the best they can, given their circumstances. I’m here to support you in focusing on your strengths, getting unstuck and overcoming barriers.”
I see my role in therapy as a coach, consultant and collaborator. It is important to build on capabilities and passions because it enables you to change from a place of empowerment.
I see the goal of counseling as helping patients gain insight through reflection, and to build concrete skills so that when future challenges arise, they are better prepared. I take a holistic perspective and consider social and cultural context, including discrimination and oppression.
I frequently blend psychotherapeutic approaches to best meet your needs. Some of the techniques I use include cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and expressive therapies such as art therapy and play therapy, as well as the Ackerman Relational Approach—all in the context of short-term, goal-directed therapy.
