Dr. Choi has over over 20 years of experience in the fields of counseling and clinical psychology. She is trained in EMDR (certified), Internal Family System (certified), Lifespan Integration Therapy, Somatic Experiencing (SEP), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (Level II), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP: Level II), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT: Intensively Trained), Imago Relationship Therapy.
While all of her diverse training and experiences are integrated into what Dr. Choi provides to her clients, her approach is also informed by current research in the area of development, attachment, mind and body integration, neurobiology, and spirituality. To Dr. Choi, a therapist’s presence and attunement to a client’s emotional experience in a therapeutic relationship is the most crucial aspect of psychotherapy; a therapist’s presence and attunement should always guide the process of a person’s intrapsychic restructuring of cognition, emotion, and body. Dr. Choi believes effective therapy brings together the affective, cognitive, behavioral, physiological, and spiritual systems within a person, always with an awareness of the social and transpersonal aspects of the systems surrounding those of the individual person.
She welcomes those who want to work on Relationship Issues, Difficulty with Intimacy, Marital Conflict, Family Problems, Work Stress, Grief/Loss, Anger Problems, Impulsive ess, Behavior Problems, School Difficulties, Adjustment Problems, Chronic and Severe Depression, Dysthymia, Social Anxiety, Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Emotion Regulation Problems, Personality Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, and Schizophrenia and Psychotic Disorders
